Video conferencing Project Idea

 This project is aimed at providing an economically feasible security and communication system that will provide very good features that can fulfill the security needs of a small organization. The project will be supposed to implement the recording of the videos through a webcam or multiple webcams and are capable of storing the captured videos and the videos  can be compressed so that a large collection could be maintained with minimum storage space. This project will also be able to provide video and voice chat between two employees.

The project could be implemented in an average sized organization. An average company will not be very keen on spending loads of money on CCTV cameras which is an expensive technology. Where as our project will greatly reduce the costs which is using common and cheap office items like web cams and PC. And also there is no requirement to store in magnetic tapes. The data is directly stored in digital format in the hard disk of the PC. An efficient voice chatting which is a bonus along with the security system.

Video capturing is a process of capturing the video stream from a camera or any sort of device which is capable of handling video streams. The primary purpose of this application is to implement the above stated functionality. The application should be capable enough to capture the video streams and also perform some editing on the video that is captured. It will be having user friendly GUIs that will guide the user to easily achieve the same. The application shall also have some advanced features of capturing video from more than one input source and simultaneously displaying both in the same window (e.g. video captured from a web cam and a TV tuner card.) In addition to this the application also supports feature to capture a video stream from a network camera. It can also broadcast the video captured from a local device in a network (e.g. LAN) so that the other users will be able to view the same. Video recording and taking snap shots also can be achieved by using this application. Some sorts of video editing like zooming in and out of the picture, rotating the picture is also possible. The snaps captured can easily be saved into a directory right from the application. It also gives the thumbnail view of the snaps taken. The feature to detect the motion in front of the camera as per the given sensitivity is also possible. It will also include functionality to convert the captured video and audio into different codecs and formats which will make a video to be easily sent around in an network. The application is to be fully developed under .NET platform using Visual Basic.Net.
